Right in the thick of that mid-2010s dancehall run, Jay Crazie Records’ Gud Up, Gud Up Riddim keeps the energy taut and straight to the point, with six artists across eight cuts and the familiar clean-versus-raw split on a couple of tracks. Demarco’s “Gud Up, Gud Up Muma” has the kind of cheeky pull that makes these projects stick, while Navino’s “Worky Worky” and Jah Vinci’s “Lock Di World” lean into the same bouncy, muscle-flexing groove without sounding identical. Teflon’s “Cleanest Bobo” adds a more conscious edge, giving the set a little balance amid the party pressure. The whole thing landed in late 2014, even though it’s often filed under 2015 in riddim listings, which makes it feel like one of those bridge releases that sat right between years and kept the dancehall circuit moving.
