Rum Sauce Riddim came out in 2024 from Christopher Birch and Birchill Records, a Kingston-rooted imprint Birch has run through a long stretch of dancehall history. Birch’s name has been attached to rhythm-driven releases for years, and this set sits comfortably in that catalogue: a modern juggling with a polished edge and enough room for veteran names and newer voices to collide. The riddim itself has that crisp, forward-moving Birchill feel, with a taut bounce that leaves space for melodies, hooks, and quick-fire chat. It is less about brute force than propulsion, a clean dancehall swing that can handle sly one-liners, swagger, and straight party pressure without sounding cluttered. Buju Banton brings the gravitas, sounding like the elder statesman in the room while keeping the cut conversational. Konshens is right in his lane, sharp and fluid, and Charly Black adds the kind of easy, radio-friendly chant that has always made him useful on a juggling. Elephant Man is the obvious ignition point, especially on “Best One, ” where his high-energy delivery turns the riddim into a proper shelling. Goofy’s “Slow Mo” and Vershon’s “No Filter” keep the set moving in a more street-level, playful register, while Tifa’s “Duh Yuh Body” and T. O. K. ’s “Pretty” widen the range and stop the project from settling into one mood.
