Big Ship usually gets linked to polished, forward-leaning dancehall, and Day Break fits that 2008 stretch where the label was leaning hard into clean, radio-ready juggling without losing the bite. Aidonia’s “Bruk It Off, ” Mavado’s “Nuh Bleach Wid Cream, ” and Elephant Man’s “Wine Up Pan Me” are the names that jump out, while Chino and Wayne Marshall’s “Danger” adds a nice contrast in the middle of the set. The riddim itself keeps that bright, punchy Big Ship feel, with crisp drums and a light, skittering bounce that leaves plenty of room for each vocal to cut through, and Stephen McGregor closes it out with the version cut. It’s a tidy 2008 run of 12 tracks, all marked clean, with Teflon, Anthony B, Laden, and the others filling out the lineup.
