Fat Eyes were deep in their late-2000s juggling run when So So Riddim landed, and this one keeps the focus on a sharp, stripped dancehall groove with enough space for the voices to cut through. Vybz Kartel’s “Nah Happen” is the name that jumps out first, but Anthony B’s “Cry Fi Di Woman” and Mr Lex’s “Boasty” give the riddim a broader sweep, moving from straight-talking rub-a-dub attitude to slicker party chatter. There’s a nice tension in the lineup too: D Angel’s “Fashion Ova Style” and Bling Dawg’s “Inna Mi Bed” lean into the fashion-and-flavour side of the era, while Greg Hinds and Brain Damage keep the set grounded.
