BOX FOOD RIDDIM produced by JAY CRAZIE
Box Food Overview
In 2014, the Box Food Riddim collection arrived from Jamaica and quickly became a key part of dancehall’s sound that year. The project gathered some of the scene’s most exciting voices, all riding the same infectious rhythm. Demarco, already known for his hit “Fallen Soldiers,” brought the energetic “Hot Dawg” to the mix. Gappy Ranks, a London-born artist who gained attention with his 2010 album “Put The Stereo On,” added “Go Go Girl,” showing his signature style. Khago, who had reached the top of Jamaican charts with “Nah Sell Out,” delivered the bold “Wine & Cum.” Propally joined with “Come Off A Mi Name,” and The Rhogue contributed “Go Fi It,” both adding their own flavors to the riddim. The collection also featured Slughed with “Spend Money” and Teflon with “Best Love,” rounding out the lineup. Each artist brought a unique touch, but all were united by the same driving beat. Behind the scenes, JAY CRAZIE produced the riddim. Known for his work with the Crazie Records label and for crafting rhythms that get heavy play in dancehall parties, JAY CRAZIE’s production here was tight and dancefloor-focused. His reputation for delivering club-ready tracks made him a natural choice for this project. Many selectors and fans remember Box Food Riddim as the sound that filled dances and parties across Jamaica and beyond in 2014. Its sharp, streetwise style and strong lineup helped define the bashment energy of that year’s dancehall scene.
