Yami Bolo
Rolando Ephraim McLean was born on 1 October 1970 and he grew up in postal zone 13 of Kingston. His earliest music influence was church music and he began performing at the young age of 11. For his first professional job, he hooked up with Sugar Minott and his Youth Promotion Organization. His first singles were released in 1986 and he had his greatest success while working with Augustus Pablo in the late 1980s and early 1990s. One of these singles is “Struggle in Babylon”. In 1994, McLean collaborated with the Japanese reggae performer Kazafumi Mizayawa (Miya). They worked on “Their Love Is Dangerous” and “Miya-Yami”. McLean contributed to Damien Marley’s 2001 Grammy award winning album “Halfway Tree”. He has collaborated with many reggae sensations including Damien Marley, Capleton, Sugar Minott, Sly & Robbie, King Jammy’s Studios among others. His music is listened to all over the world including niches like Japan, Germany, Britain, USA and France.
