Patrick George Anthony Barrett, born on 15 January 1962 in Manchester, Jamaica, is a dancehall and reggae recording artist. In his earlier years, he would perform locally at talent contests and various sound systems. Like many other artists, Barrett also worked with Donovan Germain of Penthouse Records and his career went up with the hit single “Fresh Vegetable” in 1990 after having done his very 1st song with MGB Records titled “Casino” in 1988. Vibes Of The Times was a reggae fusion album released by Columbia Records in 1992. The album birthed 2 smashing international hits namely “Nazarite Vow” and “Vibes Of The Times” which also had music videos that were very successful. He founded his own label in 1994 called Flames and that same year he initiated the festival Rebel Salute which has been held every year via his label on his birthday since then. The United Nations Volunteer received a song as a donation by Barrett in 2001 which became a lead song. The song was titled “Not All About Money” and it was put on the International Year of Volunteers website as well as CD during that same year. Barrett touched so many lives that he was sworn in as Justice Of  The Peace in June 2013. Barrett has a son who followed in the footsteps of making a career in music called Abatau. Over the years, Tony Rebel has done many collaborations and compilations with various rhythms such as Bondage riddim in 2012, Bangarang riddim in 2014, Tenement riddim in 2016 including Herbalist riddim in 2018 just to mention a few. BRT Weekend 2020 Riddim also had other legends like Beenie-Man appear on the album. Tony Rebel has shown that he will continue making an impact in the music industry for more years to come.
