Stingray Records
Stingray Records is a Jamaican record label that specializes in dancehall and reggae music. The label was founded in the early 1990s by the late music producer and entrepreneur, Robert Livingston, who also co-founded Big Yard Music Group and was a member of the famous production team, The Jammys.
Stingray Records quickly became known for its high-quality productions and innovative sounds, and helped to launch the careers of many notable dancehall and reggae artists, including Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer, Capleton, and Beenie Man.
Stingray Records is also credited with introducing the “riddim” concept to dancehall music, which involves creating a unique instrumental track and having multiple artists record their own songs over the same rhythm. This approach became a popular trend in dancehall music and has been emulated by many other record labels and producers.
Throughout its history, Stingray Records has remained at the forefront of the dancehall and reggae music scene, consistently releasing hit songs and albums, and collaborating with many of the biggest names in the genre. The label’s legacy as a pioneer in Jamaican music continues to inspire fans and musicians around the world.
