Ur Luv Riddim – Stingray Records

Stingray Records has long been one of the UK reggae names that keeps singer-led roots and dancehall in circulation, and Ur Luv Riddim fits that approach neatly. The project arrived in 2022 and is a remake of Larry Marshall’s Studio One-era classic “Your Love, ” reworked into a modern lovers-rock style riddim with the kind of smooth, melodic pulse Stingray has leaned on for years.

The set runs ten cuts and the strongest moments come from the variety of voices riding the same foundation. Delly Ranx brings a firmer dancehall edge on “Mama Love, ” while Joseph Cotton, a veteran of the UK reggae scene, sounds right at home on “Start It Up. ” Ginjah’s “Roots” pushes the package toward sweeter, conscious roots territory, and Leroy Mafia’s “Your Love” nods directly to the source material in a way that makes the remake idea feel earned rather than ornamental.

Elsewhere, Chardel Rhoden, Richie Davis, Tenna Star, Yashema McLeod, Publik Report and Kareem Shabazz each add their own spin, giving the riddim a cross-generational feel that moves between lover’s rock tenderness, radio-friendly singjay phrasing and more traditional reggae phrasing. The production is clean and open, with warm bass, crisp drums and enough space for the hooks to breathe. It is the kind of riddim built for juggling, but also one that works as a statement about how UK reggae still keeps classic foundations alive without sounding museum-piece stiff.
