Iyara

His early recordings helped establish the mix of toughness and reflection that would become a hallmark of his work. Songs such as “Ghetto People a Suffa,” “Aiming to the Top,” “A True Friend,” “Easy Fi Get,” “Month a Di Year,” and “Never Kill a Friend” showed his ability to move between gritty everyday themes and more uplifting messages. Later releases such as “Pressure Cooker” and “Lost a Friend” kept his name in rotation, while tracks like “Rich Wi Fi Rich” broadened his reach beyond the local scene.

Iyara has remained active through collaborations and singles that lean into both party energy and social observation. In 2016, he was promoting “Pressure Cooker,” which had already started to find an audience on digital platforms and radio, including in the UK during a promotional run. By 2017, he was appearing on collaborations such as D-Will’s “Dweet,” where his rhythmic phrasing and delivery were singled out as a strong addition to the track. More recently, he teamed with Pamputtae on “Caney,” a release that showed his ease with playful, contemporary dancehall while still keeping his signature tone intact.

Now working across singles, collaborations, and riddims, Iyara has developed a reputation as an artist who understands both the tension and the swagger at the heart of dancehall. His music reflects the path of a performer who came up through the genre’s competitive live culture and has continued to adapt without losing the directness that first made him stand out.
