Beach Ball Riddim – Power Icon Records

Out of the Trinidad-and-Barbados summer circuit in 2016, Beach Ball Riddim came through as a lean little soca set from Power Icon Records, with just three cuts but enough personality to keep it moving. Al Fray’s “I Naa See Dem” has the sharpest bite of the bunch, while Iyara’s “No Rubbish” adds a cheekier, crowd-ready swing that sits nicely against the same bright, carnival-minded groove. Krusher’s “Twerk” keeps the energy up and leans into the more playful side of the riddim, so the whole thing feels less like a big compilation and more like a quick roadside party snapshot. Power Icon keeps the arrangement direct and uncluttered, and that’s probably why the vocal hooks land so cleanly here, especially on the Iyara cut, small set, quick run, done.
