Gifted Riddim – Gifted Records

A bright, jumpy soca groove with a bit of rude-boy edge runs through Gifted Riddim, and the first thing that catches the ear is how the bass and bounce leave room for the voices to cut through. Gifted Records keeps the set lean at five cuts, and RDX are the natural pivot here: “Chuck It Nuh” and “Bruk It Nuh” lock into the rhythm with that sly, party-ready energy they’ve always handled well. Blakkman’s “Phuk” leans harder and rougher, while Ssense’s “Ugly Song” comes in clean and explicit versions, giving the project a quick, club-minded replay factor. It surfaced in July 2016, with 21st Hapilos handling the digital side, almost as an aside.
