Jamar Rolando McNaughton, born on 10 October 1992, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, is a reggae and dancehall artist. At the age of 5, he wrote his first song, “Rice Grain” and with the help of his father Selvin McNaughton, whose stage name is “Chronicle”, began to nurture his musical abilities. Jamar started making riddims at around the age of 15. He started composing rhythms used by Konshens and Popcaan. Having seen such prominent artists working with his craft was an indication for every producer that Jamar had a lot more to offer. Jamar’s popularity grew in 2012 and he began performing at Reggae Sumfest. He toured the United Kingdom and the United States with his band in 2013. The same year he visited Kenya. The week of 18 April saw Dread and Terrible top the Billboard Top Reggae Albums charts. In May 2014, at the Linkage Awards in New York, Jamar won Best New Artist, Culture Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. In October 2014, he won awards for Best Music Video for “Here Comes Trouble” and Best Song for “Smile Jamaica” at the 33rd International Reggae & World Music Awards. Jamar founded ZincFence Recordz production house together with Romain “Teflon” Arnett, a producer and Ricardo “Shadyz” Lynch, a co-producer/engineer. Chronixx made a performance at Glastonbury Festival in June 2015. Hid debut album Chronology was nominated at the Grammy Awards in 2017. “Dela Move,” his first single was released on 13 March 2020 coming from his current upcoming album called “Dela Splash.” He got the inspiration for both titles from his hometown De La Vega City, located in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Chronixx is definitely very gifted and his popularity has grown vastly over the years leading to his fan base is multiplying.
