By 2008, Irievibrations Records had already settled into a neat little run of roots-minded one-riddim work, and Work Off Riddim fits right into that catalogue with its steady, militant pulse and no-nonsense arrangement. The set pairs veteran voices with a few less familiar names, but the cuts that stick are the ones that lean into pressure and purpose: Jah Mason’s “Create A System” has that social-commentary bite he does so well, while Burro Banton’s “Run The Street Red” drops more grit into the rhythm’s pocket. Luciano’s “Feeling For Love” keeps things warmer and more reflective, which gives the compilation a bit of range without softening the edge. With 11 tracks in all, including the version, this one landed in June 2008 and feels like a snapshot of Irievibrations doing what they did best at the time: clean roots production, a strong singer lineup, and a rhythm that keeps moving without ever rushing.
