Sugar Overview
In 2009, a new roots reggae riddim made waves from France, thanks to Special Delivery Music. This project, known as Sugar Riddim, brought a warm, classic sound to reggae fans around the world. Special Delivery Music, a label founded in 2001, is known for working with both Jamaican and European artists. Their riddims often get heavy play in reggae dances and radio shows. Sugar Riddim featured a strong lineup of artists. Demarco delivered “It’s Ok,” adding his signature style. Demarco is also known for his hit single “Fallen Soldiers,” which became a major anthem in Jamaica. Peetah Morgan, lead singer of Grammy-winning group Morgan Heritage, sang “It’s Love,” bringing his soulful voice to the project. Gappy Ranks, who later found success with his album “Put the Stereo On,” contributed “The Rain,” a track filled with emotion. Million Stylez, the Swedish-Japanese artist behind the international hit “Miss Fatty,” offered “Me & U.” Da’ville, well known for his song “Always on My Mind,” added “Barrier” to the mix. The riddim also included songs from Rupee (“Not Giving Up”), Ziggi (“Gonna Leave You”), Torch (“Good Love”), Ricashae (“Can’t Wait”), and Lyricson (“Glad You’re Mine”).
