Judgement Time comes in heavy and methodical, all stark bass, clipped drums, and that late-2000s roots-dancehall pressure that leaves room for the singers to sound urgent rather than polished. Special Delivery Music, the French outfit founded by Pierre Bost and JP Greve, put this one together in 2006, and the lineup leans hard on militant voices: Capleton’s “Dem Doom” and Fantan Mojah’s “Can’t Frame” carry the fire, while Lukie D and Jah Mason soften the edge on “Burnin Love” and Perfect pushes the conscious side with “Love Is What We Need. ” The riddim also cuts across languages and styles with turns from Daddy Mory, Mark Wonder, Queen Omega, Ras Shiloh, and Obas Simba, which gives the project a wider Caribbean sweep without losing its raw centre.
