RIPPA RIDDIM produced by LAZEME MUSIC / JAH WAYNE RECORDS 2014
Rippa Overview
In 2014, dancehall music was full of new sounds and fresh energy. That year, the Rippa Riddim arrived and quickly made an impact. The project was produced by LAZEME MUSIC and JAH WAYNE RECORDS, two labels known for helping young artists step into the spotlight. JAH WAYNE RECORDS, in particular, has a history of working with emerging talent and pushing creative boundaries in the dancehall scene. The Rippa Riddim featured several artists who would become important voices in dancehall. Charly Black, already known for his international hit "Party Animal," brought his unique style to the track "Defend Mi Fren." His contribution added star power and drew attention to the riddim. Teflon, respected for his conscious lyrics and powerful delivery, performed "Bad Gal," bringing a different flavor to the project. Ryme Minista, who has built a reputation for clever wordplay, delivered "Si Dung," showcasing his lyrical skills. Jah Wayne, who is also one of the producers, added his own song "Love Gal" to the mix. This showed his versatility as both a producer and a performer. Dermy Dee, another rising artist, contributed "Wine Up Fi Mi," helping to round out the lineup with a dance-friendly vibe. The Rippa Riddim, by Jah Wayne Records & Lazeme Music, became a favorite for selectors. Even years later, DJs still play this 2014 selector’s mix at parties and on radio. It remains a standout moment for the artists and the labels involved.
