Ride Me Donkey Overview
Ride Me Donkey Riddim is a new reggae rhythm project with deep roots in Jamaican music. The riddim takes inspiration from the classic reggae sound and brings it into today’s roots sessions. This project features important artists from reggae history. Aaron Silk is here with his track “Doing Overtime.” Silk is well known for his smooth voice and is the younger brother of reggae legend Garnet Silk. Augustus Pablo, famous for his melodica playing, brings “Pablo’s Big Ride.” Pablo’s album “King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown” is a key work in dub music. Brentford All Stars add their song “Race Track.” This group is closely linked to Studio One, one of Jamaica’s most famous studios. Other artists on the project include Charlie Organaire & The Supersonic with “Copy Me Donkey,” Delroy And The Tennors with “Donkey Scank,” Derrick Morgan with “Ride Mamma,” Dobby Dobson with “Ride Me Donkey,” Jackie Mittoo & Soul Vendors with “Race Track,” Jacob Miller with “Lambs Bread Collie,” and Ken & The Federal Countrymen with “Ride Me Donkey.” Each artist brings their own style to the riddim. The project is guided by Various Producers, a team known for their work since 1968. They have helped shape the sound of reggae through many classic releases. Their experience is clear in this new roots drop, making Ride Me Donkey Riddim a strong part of the current reggae scene.
