POSS BELLY RIDDIM produced by CYLTON RECORDS 1997
Poss Belly Overview
In 1997, dancehall was full of energy and new sounds. The Poss Belly Riddim was one of those sets selectors loved to play. It started in the studio with the careful touch of the studio hand, making sure the instruments and vocals blended just right. CYLTON RECORDS, the label behind this riddim, was known for pushing dancehall forward in the late 1990s. Their productions often brought together both newcomers and seasoned artists, and Poss Belly Riddim was no exception. The producer at CYLTON RECORDS worked closely with each artist, giving the riddim a lively and unique feel. Blacka Ranks & Bed Rock opened things up with “Dainty Body Girls,” a track that showed off their smooth delivery. Captain Barkey brought his own style with “Go De My Girl.” Captain Barkey was already known for hits like “Bun Fi Bun” and his energetic performances. Daddy Meekie & Little Meekie teamed up for “Forty Piece,” adding a playful vibe. Delly Ranks, who later found success with songs like “Headache,” delivered “Pose,” a confident track. Lion Face’s “Canibalistic Order” gave the riddim a raw edge. Mega Banton and Powerman also joined in with “Mi Love Yuh Style” and “Ain't No Fun,” rounding out the set. Selectors included this mix at many events in 1997, and Poss Belly Riddim remains a favorite for dancehall fans who remember that era.
