NEW RIDE RIDDIM produced by IN THE STREETZ 2000
New Ride Overview
In the world of dancehall, the producer is often called the “mixing board king.” For the New Ride Riddim, that king was IN THE STREETZ. Known for shaping the sound of early 2000s Jamaican music, IN THE STREETZ ran a busy label that put out many popular riddims. Their productions are famous for deep basslines and catchy beats that fill dance floors. The New Ride Riddim is a great example of their influence, mixing hypnotic rhythms with sharp, modern sounds. This riddim brought together some of the top dancehall artists of the time. Elephant Man, known for his high-energy style and hits like “Pon De River, Pon De Bank,” delivered the song Slacker You. His performance added excitement and movement to the track. Fargo Voice, with You Know Me, brought his smooth flow to the riddim, making it a favorite among selectors. Hawk Eye, who had success with songs like “Chicken Head,” gave the riddim Hotty Hotty, adding clever lyrics and a unique voice. Harry Toddler, once part of the legendary Scare Dem Crew, contributed Mi Sey Nah, showing his solo strength. Kip Rich, who later made waves with “Telephone Ting,” added Bun A Chi Chi Man, a song that sparked plenty of talk in the dancehall community. Other standout tracks included Jack-A-Diamond’s Draft Up, Chico’s Badman Den, Mr Vegas’s Call The Hearse, Goofy’s Could It Be, and Captain Barkey’s Dah.
