In The Streetz’s Bollywood Riddim landed in 2002 as Greensleeves Rhythm Album #30, a dancehall set that fused hard-edged juggling with a lifted Bollywood-flavoured hook. The pattern is instantly recognizable: stuttering drums, rubbery bass, and a loop that gives the whole project a tense, almost cinematic pull. The source sample lineage runs back to Truth Hurts’ “Addictive” and the Hindi classic “Thoda Resham Lagta Hai, ” which helps explain why the rhythm feels both modern and slightly off-centre for early-2000s dancehall.

In The Streetz were already known in the juggling era for rhythmic ideas that could travel across several voices without losing their bite, and this release sits neatly in that catalog. The lineup is strong from top to bottom: Capleton’s “Lock Up” brings militant pressure, Sizzla’s “Heat Is On” rides the beat with fire-and-brimstone urgency, and Elephant Man’s “Bun It” turns the rhythm into pure dancefloor motion. Tanya Stephens’ “Addiction” gives the set a sharper, more sensual angle, while Beenie Man and Robyn’s “Red Red” and Mr. Vegas’ “War” push it deeper into crossover territory.

Harry Toddler, Danny English and Egg Nogg, Determine, Ward 21, Frisco Kid, and Lexxus all add their own character, but the riddim’s real appeal is how cleanly it holds so many voices together without flattening them.
