MR DAZS RIDDIM produced by GANG STAR RECORDS 1997
Mr Dazs Overview
In 1997, dancehall sound systems were shaping the energy of the streets and parties across Jamaica. The Mr Dazs Riddim captured this moment, offering a sound that felt both fresh and timeless. Its steady, rolling groove fit right in with the laid-back but serious mood of reggae that year. The beat behind this riddim came from a producer with a clear vision. GANG STAR RECORDS, known in the Jamaican music scene for their roots-driven approach, guided the project. The label had already made a name for itself by working with rising and established artists, helping to push reggae and dancehall forward. On this compilation, Little Hero & Little Chris teamed up for "World Will Be A Better Place." Little Hero is recognized for his positive lyrics and would later find success with songs like "God Alone." Their track here stands out for its hopeful message. Powerman, known for his energetic style, delivered "Gal Dem Time." Earlier in his career, Powerman gained attention with tracks like "Gal A Say Dem Bad." Roundhead, a member of the Monster Shack Crew, brought his own touch with "Bruck Dem Neck." As part of Monster Shack Crew, Roundhead helped shape the dancehall landscape in the late 1990s. This sound system cut gave each artist a chance to shine, marking an important chapter in 1997 dancehall.
