Kiki Overview
The sound system cut of the Kiki Riddim was built in the studio with a focus on raw energy and street appeal. The beat maker behind this version wanted to capture the excitement of dancehall sessions, where the music is loud, direct, and full of life. The direction was clear: create a beat that would light up any dance and keep the crowd moving. Tony Kelly, the producer of the riddim, played a big part in shaping its sound. Known for their work in the dancehall industry, K-LICIOUS MUSIC has a reputation for creating tracks that connect with both local and international audiences. Over the years, the label has produced several hits and worked with many top artists, helping to push dancehall music forward. On the Kiki Riddim, each artist brought their own style. Delly Ranks delivered "Head A Di House," a song that stands out for its confident lyrics and catchy flow. Merciless contributed two tracks, "Let Dem Have It" and "Petty Thief," both showing his skill and sharp delivery. General Degree’s "Gwaan Good" adds a smooth yet energetic touch, while Tony Curtis addresses jealousy and negativity in "Bad Mind." Wayne Wonder teams up with Surprize on "Blazing," a song filled with melody and rhythm, and Surprize also shines on the solo version, "Blazing." Spragga Benz and Twice join forces for "Magnum," bringing even more fire to the riddim. Buju Banton’s "Opportunity" and Baby Cham’s "Desperate Measures" round out the release with strong performances. This sound system cut is remembered for bringing street flavor to dancehall and remains a key part of the genre’s history.
