Golden Eye Riddim – Pro Music 1997
Golden Eye Overview
In 1997, a special reggae rhythm project began its journey in Jamaica’s roots sessions. The sound was built with care, blending classic reggae vibes with new energy. The producer behind the project was known for his sharp ear, but it was the dub engineer, Steven Stanley, who shaped the final sound. Stanley, respected for his work on many reggae and dancehall classics, brought a deep, echoing feel to the rhythm that made it stand out in sound system dances. As the riddim took shape, a group of talented artists stepped forward. Baji Man delivered “Nice With The Clarity,” a song that flowed easily over the melodic beat. Determine, who gained international attention with his song “Kette Drum,” added strong lyrics to “I See The Cure.” Jigsy King, known for his hit “Gal A Yu Shape,” brought his unique voice to “What So Ever.” Judah’s “Mi Afi Wonder” and Leen Hammond’s “Till Am Tired” added even more layers to the project. Other artists like Little Kirk with “One Love,” Nesbeth with “Sleep In Poverty,” and Powerman with “Thank You” joined the lineup, each bringing their own style. The dub versions, crafted by Steven Stanley, were soon heard on 1997’s sound systems, giving the riddim a timeless place in reggae history.
