Funk Milk Riddim – Digitaldubs Productions 2009
Funk Milk Overview
Funk Milk Riddim arrived in 2009 and quickly became a favorite on the Carnival scene. The riddim’s producer brought together a strong group of artists, each adding their own style to the project. The sound mixed tropical rhythms with energetic beats, making it perfect for island parties and fetes. Tippa Irie is one of the main voices on this riddim, performing the track “Strickly Heavy Dub.” Tippa Irie is well known in the reggae and dancehall world, especially for his 1986 UK Top 40 hit “Hello Darling.” His unique delivery brings a classic vibe to the riddim. Jeru Banto joins with “Fine Tune Pt 2,” adding smooth vocals and a catchy melody. Kirk Davis, another standout, performs “Just Wine Baby.” Kirk Davis is recognized for his collaborations with Beenie Man and for his work in both reggae and gospel music. Funk Buia’s “Africa Digital” brings a different energy, mixing electronic sounds with the soca beat. Nabby Clifford adds his voice to “Rub - A - Dub Partner,” giving the riddim even more variety. Other artists like Black Ney with “Olho De Aguia,” Daddy Freddy with “War,” Arcanjo Ras with “Positivo,” and Percy Dread with “World Go Round” also help shape the sound of Funk Milk Riddim. This collection of songs carried the spirit of Carnival in 2009, and the riddim’s lively energy still brings back memories of island celebrations.
