Subliminal Records’ Brazilian Funk Riddim arrived in 2022 as a short, sharp two-cut dancehall juggernaut, with Baige on “Sexercise” and DOSA868 on “Side Man. ” The release sits under the Subliminal banner out of Trinidad and Tobago, with Trini Baby handling the production; she has long been active in Caribbean dance music as a singer, writer, engineer and producer, and that background shows in the way the rhythm is paced and voiced.

Despite the name, this is not a full-on Brazilian funk exercise so much as a dancehall cut with that same streetwise bounce and rubbery, waist-moving pulse.
