Candy Dance Riddim produced by Chinese Laundry Music and Rishi Mahato of Maha Productions 2024
Candy Dance Overview
The soca rhythm that shaped 2024 carnival celebrations arrived during a time of high energy and excitement across the Caribbean. The production came from Chinese Laundry Music, a label with deep roots in Trinidad and Tobago’s music scene. Chinese Laundry Music, led by Anthony "Chinese Laundry" Chin, is known for popularizing soca and dancehall in the region. Joining forces was Rishi Mahato of Maha Productions, a producer who has worked on several successful soca projects in recent years. This new soca rhythm quickly took over carnival trucks and festival stages. Two standout artists brought their unique styles to the project. Kerwin Du Bois, a Trinidadian singer and songwriter, contributed the track "Energy Killers." Du Bois is well known for his songwriting skills and previously won the Groovy Soca Monarch title in 2014 with "Too Real." His energetic delivery on "Energy Killers" continued his streak of carnival anthems. Farmer Nappy, another respected figure in the soca world, added "Smooth Ride" to the rhythm. Farmer Nappy has been active for decades and achieved international attention with his hit "Big People Party" in 2014, which topped charts in Trinidad and Tobago. His smooth vocals and catchy melodies on "Smooth Ride" added to the rhythm’s appeal. For soca fans on every island, 2024 became closely linked to this rhythm. The blend of strong production and celebrated artists made it a highlight of the carnival season, filling the streets with festive sounds and uniting crowds in celebration.
