Anwar Owen Hanchard was born on 12 February 1975 in Yallahs, St Thomas, Jamaica. Hanchard started singing froma tender age of 9 on his church choir. His first recorded song, “Teach The Children” was a hit in Jamaica and across as it became every Jamaican child’s anthem. In 2002, Hanchard released his first studio album “Coming At You” which was produced by Vasco Carney and Ejanis Records. Hanchard’s linking with Arrow Records in 2001 led him to primarily focus his music on the ladies with the major hit “I’m In Love”. It was his first chart topper followed by hits such as “For Your Love” and “Oh Happy Day”. Hanchard went on a break and got back on the scene in 2006 with “Poor Feel It” on the Purple Skunk Label and “Reasons” on the Arrows Label. Hanchard later on released “Tell It Like It Is” and “Coming Home”. He made a spectacular performance at Sting 2008.
