Luciano

Jepther McClymont OD, born on 20 October 1964 in Davyton, Jamaica, is a dancehall and reggae musician. He is number seven in a family of nine children and also an ardent Rastafarian who grew up in a strict Adventist family. “Ebony & Ivory” Luciano was his first single and he began recording in 1992 on the Aquarius Record label.”Give My Love a Try” was one of Luciano’s hit single produced at New Name studio owned by Castro Brown. Amongst other producers was Freddie McGregor, Sly and Robbie too. “Shake It Up Tonight” was the number 1 UK reggae song in 1993. In 1994, One Way Ticket album had Luciano put in as a leader in dancehall music via the “Rasta Renaissance” He also did some singles for Louis Culture and Musclehead. The 2nd album titled The Messenger was released in 1997 for Island Jamaica. Most of his recording was for the Xterminator label and Burrell in the mid-late 90s, though he parted ways with Burrell in 1999. Luciano released 2 albums in 2001 namely, A New Day on VP Records and Great Controversy on Jet Star. The former received a Best Reggae Album nomination at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Dean Fraser produced for Luciano throughout the decade including the United States of Africa. He received an award “Order of Distinction” for his active role in reggae music on 15 October 2007. In 2016, Zion Awake was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards. In The Name of Love was released in 2018 and its release expanded his fan base.
