High Praise Riddim (2003) – Energy

Energy’s High Praise Riddim sits in that early-2000s roots-reggae pocket where the arrangement does a lot of the talking: warm, prayerful, and steady, with just enough uplift in the groove to keep it moving. Released in 2003 under the Energy banner and credited to Richard Burgess, it pairs two strong voices without overcomplicating the set. Luciano and Uplifter’s “She Loves Me” leans into the conscious side of the cut, while Turbulence’s “Firm” brings a tougher edge to the same foundation. The riddim’s strength is how cleanly it carries both moods, switching from reflective to resolute without losing its calm center, and the closing Turbulence tune leaves the project on a harder, more assertive note.
