Natural Bridge Records was the force behind Gully Slime, a 2006 dancehall juggling that sat inside the wave of mid-2000s riddim albums VP was packaging through its Riddim Driven series. The label was founded by Mark Pinnock, and the project is credited to Pinnock, with some databases also linking Christopher Birch to the creation of the riddim. The release later turned up as Riddim Driven: Gully Slime, which helped carry it beyond the local promo circuit.
The rhythm has a grim, streetwise edge: a dark, mid-tempo pulse with a heavy bass line, clipped drums, and enough space for each voice to cut through. It feels built for sound system play, not polish, and the mood stays locked on badness, hustle talk, and dancehall confrontation. The instrumental version keeps the same rough contour, letting the riddim’s stern swing breathe on its own.
The strongest cuts come from Da’Ville’s Real Gangstaz and Mavado’s Nuh Chatty Ting, two songs that frame the riddim from different angles. Da’Ville brings a cooler, more melodic toughness, while Mavado sounds fully at home in the gully-era posture that was making him one of the scene’s most defining voices. T. O. K. get sharp and declarative on Dem Nuh Original, Ward 21 ride Garrison with their usual crew energy, and Mr. Peppa, Ras Myrhdak, and the other contributors keep the set focused on gun talk, street codes, and badman authority. It is a lean six-cut set, but it has the kind of tension and identity that made this period of dancehall so durable.
