Movements Riddim – Jamplified Records

Luciano’s “No Escape” feels like the anchor point on Movements Riddim, a 2008 Jamplified Records set that also ropes in Duane Stephenson, Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel for a roots-minded run. There’s a steady, unhurried pulse to the production, the kind that leaves room for singers to lean into struggle, yearning and uplift rather than rushing the cut. Stephenson’s “More Than Words” and Queen Ifrica’s “Take You Far Away” sit especially nicely against that backdrop, while Luciano’s track keeps the spiritual edge front and centre. Jamplified was working out of Kingston around this period, and the riddim’s 13-track line-up gives it that classic one-drop compilation feel without ever sounding crowded. A small detail, but the instrumental title cut, “In The Mood, ” slips in almost like a pause between the vocals.
