ARTFORM RIDDIM produced by ONE WISE SOUND 2017
Artform Overview
In 2017, the roots anthology built around the Artform Riddim gave young singers a real chance to share their voices and ideas. The project was led by producer ONE WISE SOUND, a name respected for blending classic reggae with modern sounds. ONE WISE SOUND has worked with artists from different countries and is known for bringing out strong, percussion-heavy beats that stand out in reggae today. The recording process for this anthology was all about teamwork. ONE WISE SOUND created the main riddim, giving each artist a solid base but enough space to add their own style. This helped the songs feel connected, yet unique. Artists like Cutty Ranks Feat. Froggy Madds brought their energy to “Ready Fi Teach Dem,” mixing old-school dancehall with fresh voices. Stevie Culture’s “Riddim So Nice” added a positive, uplifting mood. Delly Ranx, known for his hit “Red Bull & Guinness,” showed his range with “Reggae & Dancehall,” blending two genres smoothly. Gappy Ranks, who once reached the UK reggae charts with “Heaven In Her Eyes,” delivered “Magic Moment,” adding a soulful touch. I Octane, who has been nominated for several international reggae awards, contributed “Weed Freedom,” a song that celebrates roots culture. Other artists, like Jahdan Blakkamoore Feat. Winst with “Run A Verse,” and Anthony B with “Tell Di Boss Man,” kept the message strong and conscious. This anthology is still remembered as a key part of reggae’s 2017 story, showing how artists and producers can work together to keep roots music alive and fresh.
