Herbs Medi Riddim – One Wise Studios

Marlon Asher’s “Feel No Way” gives Herbs Medi Riddim its clearest pull, and that’s fitting on a five-track set where the warm, herbal theme is carried through by Anthony B’s “Herbs Medication” and Shemeika’s “Only One” as much as by the instrumental itself. Released September 17, 2021 on One Wise Studios, the project keeps close to reggae roots but nods toward a looser, dancehall-leaning edge on MediSun’s “Summer Breeze (Dancehall Mix), ” which breaks the mood without breaking the flow. Sarge OneWise closes the circle with the title cut, a patient mid-tempo groove that leaves room for melody rather than crowding the singers. As a unit, it feels like a compact showcase for Marlon Asher’s easy authority, and his cut is the one that lingers longest.
