ONE HUNDRED WATT RIDDIM produced by GARGAMEL RECORDS 2006
One Hundred Watt Overview
In 2006, the dancehall scene was buzzing with energy when a new bashment project hit the streets. The journey began in the studio with a beat maker crafting a rhythm that mixed classic dancehall vibes with a fresh, driving pulse. This was the foundation for what would soon become the One Hundred Watt Riddim, a party backdrop that DJs could not resist. Production was handled by GARGAMEL RECORDS, a label with a strong reputation in reggae and dancehall. Known for being founded by Buju Banton, GARGAMEL RECORDS had already made waves with several influential releases. Their touch helped the riddim stand out, giving it a signature sound that quickly caught attention. The artists brought their own fire to the project. Bounty Killer delivered “War,” adding his unmistakable voice and energy. Ghost Feat East Coast and East Coast - Its All Over both performed “Its All Over,” a track that echoed through dancehalls. Mr G, known for his hit “Fudgie,” kept the crowd moving with “Yuh Too Fuck Up.” New Kidz joined in with “For The Money,” while Powerstone’s “Yea Yea,” Spragga Benz’s “Bullet,” Assasin’s “Nuh Matter,” Bling Dawg’s “Step Up,” and Buju Banton’s “Nuh Inna” rounded out the lineup. From creation to release, this riddim became a cornerstone of 2006 dancehall, filling parties and sound systems across Jamaica and beyond.
