Sweet Yuh Riddim finds Tad’s Record in familiar territory: polished Jamaican singer material with a rootsy, lovers-rock tilt and enough bite in the groove to keep it from drifting into wallpaper. The label has been around Kingston since 1984, and this project sits comfortably in that long run of reggae compilations and singles built around melody, live-band feel, and clean studio finish.

The riddim itself rides at a mid-tempo pace, with a warm, steady pulse that leaves room for the hooks to bloom. It has the kind of easy sway that suits radio-friendly lovers songs, but the arrangement still carries enough weight for tougher voices like Richie Spice and Chezidek. Stevie Face’s title cut gives the set its identity, while Hezron’s Natural Woman and Jc Lodge’s Love Is Blind bring classic relationship talk with mature phrasing and smooth delivery. Anthony Cruz, Anthony B, and Terry Linen keep the energy high without forcing the tempo, and Glen Washington and Duane Stephenson add some of the strongest emotional lift on the project.
