Joe Grine Riddim landed in 2019 from Tad’s Record Inc. , the Kingston label that has been pressing and producing reggae since 1984. The set runs with a rootsy, midtempo pulse at around 82 BPM, with a warm, weighty bassline and roomy drums that leave plenty of space for the singers to stretch out. It feels built for conscious reggae juggling rather than anything hurried or synthetic, and the version at the end gives the riddim its own clean instrumental payoff.

The strongest voices on the project come from the familiar roots circuit. Lutan Fyah turns Strong Black Woman into a straight praise song with his steady, militant tone. Chezidek’s Moving On has that calm, prayerful delivery he’s known for, and it sits naturally in the groove. Teflon’s Never Regret adds a reflective edge, while Perfect Giddimani’s American Dream pushes the social commentary outward. Kali Baxx, who appears here as Kali Blaxx on some listings, brings Time So Rhygin into sharper street territory, and Unstoppable Fire’s Bloody World and Ika’s Babylon Gone keep the pressure on with harder, more urgent turns.

There’s a clear consistency in the writing across the set: faith, survival, pressure, and moral grounding. Dada’s Propoganda, Zamunda’s Herbs Man, Loaded’s Game of Love, Kunta Kente’s Hill Side, and Hytanya’s What I’m Gonna Do all fit the same conscious frame without sounding repetitive. Joe Grine Riddim is one of those Tad’s productions that feels made for selector rotation, with enough lyrical range to keep each pull fresh while the rhythm itself stays locked in.
