Reggae Party Time Riddim comes out of the Tad’s camp, the long-running Jamaican reggae operation headed by Tad A. Dawkins Jnr. and associated with Tad’s Record/Tad’s International. The rhythm itself is a fresh pass over the classic Party Time foundation, and it lands with that warm, one-drop sway that has made the original such a dependable songbed for decades. At 81 BPM, it sits in a relaxed mid-tempo pocket that gives the singers room to phrase softly or push their message with a little more bite.

What makes the set work is the balance between veteran voices and current names. Tanya Stephens and Singer J set the tone on “Some Kinda Madness, ” while Jesse Royal’s “Those Days” and Richie Spice’s “Push Out Your Light” bring the kind of earthy uplift that fits this rhythm naturally.
