Split Personality Riddim – Seanizzle Records

Seanizzle Records was already a name to watch by 2010, with Sean “Seanizzle” Reid pushing his own productions through a run of dancehall instruments that found real traction on the airwaves and in the dance. Split Personality sits right in that stretch, when his riddims were moving from studio talk to everyday selector business and his label was becoming a familiar stamp on the modern dancehall circuit.

The riddim has that tense, springy Seanizzle feel: crisp drums, a forward-driving bounce, and enough space for voices to cut through without crowding the mix. It works as a juggling piece because it can carry both hard-edged slack talk and more melodic, sung hooks without losing its shape. Mavado’s “Pon Di Ting” brings the militant, stare-down energy, while Beenie Man and Pretti Kitti turn “Suga Plum Plum” into one of the more playful cuts on the set.
