Pure Music Productions’ Boomerang Riddim lands in that early-2010s dancehall pocket where sharp digital drums, a rubbery bassline and clipped synth stabs do most of the talking. Released in 2010, the juggling came through Delly Ranks’ Pure Music camp, a label that had already been moving riddims in the dancehall lane and would keep doing so through the decade. The Boomerang set is lean but lively, with a forward-driving bounce that leaves plenty of room for deejay phrasing and melody to cut through.
Beenie Man’s cut brings the biggest marquee pull, but Delly Ranx’s own “Nah Left Go” feels like the clearest fit for the riddim’s taut momentum. Macka Diamond adds her usual direct, no-nonsense delivery, while Mr. Vegas keeps things animated and accessible. Boomerang is not trying to be expansive; it works by keeping the groove tight and letting seasoned voices work the pocket.
