Smiling Face Riddim produced by Stingray Records 2025
Smiling Face Overview
Reggae music has always been about steady rhythms and messages that connect people. The riddim, or instrumental track base, is the heart of many reggae songs and remains a key part of today’s roots sessions around the world. DJs and selectors rely on strong riddims to keep dancefloors moving and to highlight singers who bring their own style to each version. On this collection, the sound design shows the influence of classic dub and roots reggae. Behind these tracks is Stingray Records, a UK-based label known for working with both legendary and new artists. Stingray Records was founded by brothers Carlton “Dillie” McLeod and Raymond “Stingray” McLeod. Through the years, they have produced music for well-known artists including Dennis Brown and Freddie McGregor, helping to keep reggae alive in Europe. The vocal talent featured here brings together experienced names. Colin B delivers “All Night Long” with his smooth delivery. Peter Spence, respected in British reggae since the 1980s, adds soulful touches on “Cross The Line.” Rafeelya’s “Wanna Be With You” showcases her expressive vocals; she is recognized for her win at Jamaica’s Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2006. Raymond Wright sings “I’ll Wait,” while Claire Angel brings uplifting energy on “Life.” Each artist finds their space on the riddim, giving selectors fresh choices for any session. With songs like Tenna Star’s “Smiling Face” and Sandra Cross’s “Stumbling Block,” this collection stands out as a reliable pick for anyone building a lively reggae set today.
