Right out of the 2012 wave of roots-minded dancehall, Just Me Riddim finds Remla Productions lining up eight voices around a faith-heavy, message-driven groove that feels more devotional than rowdy. Ryan Consious opens with the sharp political edge of Babylon System, and the tracklist keeps circling back to testimony and uplift with cuts like Yi’s He’s Our God, Zion’s Jesus Alone and Tha Bishop’s Send Me, where the riddim leaves plenty of room for the singers to carry the weight. There’s a nice push and pull between the chant-like hooks and the tougher dancehall bounce underneath, which gives the whole set a focused, street-to-sanctuary feel; Kerron Gomez’s You Alone closes it out with a quiet little aftertaste.
