Pure Soul Overview
The Pure Soul Riddim started in the studio with a clear vision. The culture arranger wanted to bring back strong roots reggae sounds, using live instruments and deep bass. The team worked together to create a riddim that felt both classic and fresh. At the center of this project was producer NEQZ. Known for his work with Neqz Records, NEQZ has built a reputation for quality reggae productions. His label has released several roots and dancehall projects, and Pure Soul Riddim became one of his standout works in 2019. NEQZ’s attention to detail helped shape the riddim’s rich, layered sound. Each artist brought something special to the riddim. Dudsymil delivered “Woman’s Worth,” a song that celebrates respect for women and quickly became popular in roots sessions. Dudsymil is known for smooth vocals and uplifting lyrics, and this track showed his strengths. Onique followed with “I Hope,” adding heartfelt lyrics and a soulful performance. Onique has worked with several reggae producers and is respected for his honest songwriting. Neqz Records also released the “Pure Soul Instrumental,” giving DJs and selectors a chance to play the riddim by itself. The instrumental version highlights the careful arrangement and musicianship behind the project. Star Blacks joined with “Shake Off,” bringing energy and a positive message. Swick Don and Ma teamed up for “Nothing Nuh Come Easy,” a song about hard work and perseverance. Pure Soul Riddim quickly became a favorite in roots reggae sessions.
