Overdub Overview

The journey of this dub release began with the deep love for roots reggae and sound system culture. In 2015, the Overdub Riddim was created, bringing together soulful melodies and a steady, meditative rhythm. The producer Yvan Messerli, known for his careful attention to the sound system vibe, guided the project with a clear vision. His work gave young singers a real platform to shine and share their voices. As the riddim evolved, each artist added their own style. Askala Selassie stepped forward with "Warrior Empress," showing her powerful voice and message. She is respected for her conscious lyrics and uplifting performances. Ziggi Recado, known for his hit song "Need to Tell You This" and his album "Ziggi Recado," brought his unique sound to "Too Long." His international success helped the riddim reach more listeners. Oba Simba contributed "Degital Age," blending tradition with modern themes. Terran’s "Overdub Melodica" added a melodic touch that gave the riddim extra warmth. Anthony Senior, a producer and artist with a long history in reggae, mixed the "Over Dub Mix," highlighting the dub style that keeps reggae’s roots strong. Terry Ganzie, with "Hard Way," brought in his seasoned voice, known from his classic tracks in the 1990s. When the dub cut arrived in 2021, it carried the spirit of the original riddim but with a deeper, echoing sound.
