There has been a lot of speculation about Koffee writing songs for Rihanna and now The Bajan Pop musician has finally confirmed that the rising star will be credited on her much awaited reggae album that will be released soon.
The “Rapture†singer will be credited as one of the writers for Rihanna’s forthcoming reggae album due later this year.
Californian rapper Haiti Babii recently let it slip in an interview with BET that he had a FaceTime session with RiRi, where she confirmed that rising reggae sensation was writing for her.
“I asked her, ‘Ri, what’s up with Koffee? Do you know who that is?’†Haiti Babii told BET. “And I spelled the name wrong at first, but she was like ‘Koffee? Yeah, that’s one of my writers. You guys definitely have to link. I need something now.â€
Word of the collaboration on Rihanna’s new album comes after the star was recorded bumping to “Toast†last month when she was in Barbados for Buju Banton’s Long Walk To Freedom concert.
The new album follows Rihanna’s 2016’s album “Antiâ€, rumour has it that Rihanna has 500 songs to choose from for the album.
Sources revealed to Rolling Stone that Rihanna is working on two projects – a reggae album and a pop album. The reggae project is said to have a few of the biggest producers and singers in the genre attached to it, with the likes of R. City (Rihanna, Beyoncé), Stephen “Di Genius†McGregor (Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul), Linton “TJ Records†White (Serani, Vybz Kartel), Kranium, Chronixx, and others submitting material.
Rihanna and her team have collected many demos from Jamaican talent for consideration. A producer, who requested to remain anonymous, said: “Rihanna’s team have, no lie, 500 records for this project from different producers and writers. They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project.â€
Another added: “Every artist, every producer, every songwriter in Jamaica or of Jamaican descent has been working on Rihanna’s album and has little snippets of publishing or production credits on it.â€
