HoodCelebritty has officially changed her stage name to Tina. The Jamaican-born Tina Pinnock known for hit tracks like Walking Trophy, Bum Pon It, Hype Me Up, and Run Di Road made the change this past week. She made the change official with a fresh Bounty Killer remix titled I’m Back, on Black Shadow’s successful Buzz Riddim. If you jog your memory the 2001 riddim features Sean Paul’s Gimmie Di Light along with Capelton’s Hot Girl.
Tina shared, “You guys (are) about to go to the next level with me in my career and the next level where I won’t be able to be put in a box, cause I kept it real with y’all. They were trying to keep HoodCelebrityy in a box and for my fans, for people who love and support me and want to see me be at my full potential, HoodCelebrityy did her time. Now it’s Tina to take it to the next level.”
There were probably contractual and political issues which have forced the young talent to make the change. However, it’s not uncommon for artists to change their name as we have seen done notably by Prince, Assassin, and Snoop Dogg. Tina went on to attribute the change to a natural evolution as an artist which is understandable. To be fair the name HoodCelebrityy is an attention grabber but I am sure after a few hit tracks Tina will regain her clout in the industry once more.
