MUD UP RIDDIM produced by DIGITAL B 1994
Mud Up Overview
In 1994, the Mud Up Riddim brought together some of dancehall’s most respected names. Beenie Man, known for his later hit “Who Am I (Sim Simma)” and often called the “King of Dancehall,” delivered the track “Veteran.” Red Dragon, famous for his song “Compliments on Your Kiss,” gave fans “Bad Mind.” Sanchez & Stinger Man teamed up for “Family Man,” showing Sanchez’s smooth singing style that made him popular in both reggae and dancehall circles. Terror Fabulous, who had already made waves with the song “Action” alongside Nadine Sutherland, contributed “Watch Who Yu Drape Up.” The selection of these artists and songs was no accident. The producer behind the project, DIGITAL B, played a key role in shaping the sound of dancehall during the 1990s. DIGITAL B, led by Bobby Digital (Bobby Dixon), was known for producing hits for artists like Shabba Ranks and Garnett Silk. The label became famous for its crisp digital rhythms and helped launch the careers of many Jamaican stars. The Mud Up Riddim release stood out as one of the top bashment events of 1994. The riddim’s energetic beat and catchy hooks made it a favorite in dancehall sessions and on radio. Each artist brought their own style, but the production by DIGITAL B tied everything together. The project captured the spirit of dancehall at the time and influenced the sound for years to come.
