The festival groove era of 2022 brought a fresh wave of energy to soca music. At the heart of this excitement was SMALL ISLAND RECORDZ, a label known for producing vibrant Caribbean sounds. Based in Saint Lucia, the label has built a reputation for delivering tracks that light up dancefloors and stream well across digital platforms. For Carnival 2022, SMALL ISLAND RECORDZ released the Mal Pal Riddim, a project that quickly became a favorite among DJs and fans. The riddim featured three standout artists: Ricky T, Ambi, and J'urgen. Ricky T is a celebrated soca artist from Saint Lucia. He is famous for his hit single "Pressure Boom," which won the Road March title in Saint Lucia in 2007. On the Mal Pal Riddim, Ricky T delivered "Live Life - Mal Palé," a song that captured the lively spirit of the season. Ambi, another Saint Lucian talent, brought his unique style with the track "Woman." Known for his smooth vocals and energetic performances, Ambi has been a consistent presence in the soca scene, earning respect for his contributions to Carnival music. J'urgen completed the trio with "Joanna." Though newer to the wider soca audience, J'urgen's work on this riddim showed his ability to create infectious melodies that kept the party moving.
