Jump Out Riddim (2014) – Di Genius Records

Di Genius Records kept the Jump Out Riddim in that mid-2014 dancehall pocket where the drums are crisp, the bass is weighty, and the whole thing feels made for forward motion in a dance. Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor was already one of the sharpest young producers in Jamaica by then, with a catalogue that stretched from Big Ship-linked work to his own imprint and a reputation for clean, modern juggling with a strong ear for hooks.

This one came out in 2014 and the voiced cuts line up like a proper selector’s set: Agent Sasco on “Nuh Cater, ” Beenie Man with “Do Anything You Want, ” Bramma on “Run Bout Yah, ” Chino with “Here We Go! , ” Di Genius on “Nuh Bad, ” Elephant Man on “Watch Man, ” Frisco Kid with “You Alone, ” Kibaki on “Body Good, ” Laden on “When You Feel, ” Mavado on “Jump Out, ” and O.
