GET IN THE GROOVE RIDDIM produced by XTERMINATOR CREW
Get In The Groove Overview
The Xterminator Crew brought a deep roots feeling to reggae in 1998 with their dub release, “Get In The Groove Riddim.” Known for their strong production style, Xterminator Crew was led by the late Philip “Fatis” Burrell, a respected figure who helped shape the sound of modern roots reggae. The label’s focus on conscious music gave this riddim a timeless vibe, and fans still remember it as a classic backdrop from the late ‘90s. Several well-known artists added their voices to this musical project. Beres Hammond, a singer famous for hits like “Rockaway” and his Grammy-nominated album “One Love, One Life,” performed “Nothing No Go So.” His smooth, soulful style fit perfectly with the roots rhythm. The combination of Charlie Chaplin And Josey Wales on “Forever Young” brought together two of dancehall’s legendary deejays, both known for their influential careers during the 1980s and beyond. Louie Culture, recognized for his conscious lyrics, delivered “Original Days,” giving the riddim a thoughtful edge. Luciano, often called “The Messenjah,” contributed “Poor Youth Dem Hungry.” Luciano’s work has earned him international respect and a MOBO award for Best Reggae Act in 2007. Morgan Heritage, a group celebrated for their family harmonies and Grammy-winning album “Strictly Roots,” added “Bubble In The Struggle.” The Xterminator Crew also provided dub versions like “Nothing No Go So Version,” “Poor Youth Version,” and “Original Days Version.” These instrumentals let the riddim’s roots sound shine.
